Toyota Tercel Oil Change

From: Tim aka Firefly
Subject: BG Tranny Service

Hello Bobby,

I am the second owner in two years of a 1985 Toyota Tercel wagon, 2-wheel drive. I can't seem to drain the last quart of oil out of it. I've over-filled putting in the 3rd quart. What can I do? Also, do you recommend Prolong?

Firefly,

Great questions.

According to Alldata, your engine gets 3-½ quarts during refill so I’m not surprised that you can only add 3 full quarts as it’s very difficult to remove all old oil. We use the BG Performance Oil Change machine on our Car Clinic Service customers’ cars at least once a year and whenever any used vehicle comes to the shop – this creates a baseline for new (and used) car owners to start. This machine applies air pressure to blow oil galleys and passages clear of old oil as well as flushing the oil pan.

I do not recommend any oil additive other than BG MOA®, which also received top ratings from Dr. Robert Kauffman. Dr. Kauffman of UDRI (University of Dayton Research Institute) invented a crankcase oil analyzer and approached me about testing his beta unit, which I’m meticulously using to track oil wear. Ironically, Dr. Kauffman first mentioned BG MOA® to me during initial conversations, saying how effective MOA is in prohibiting oil’s breakdown and increasing its lubricity. So from both a real-world technician (me) and a lab scientist (Dr. Kauffman), BG MOA® is the top shelf oil additive.

Best regards,
Bobby Likis
